SUE PROJECTS
DISTRICTWIDE SUBSURFACE UTILITY LOCATING, DESIGNATING & UTILITY COORDINATION CONTRACT FOR FDOT DISTRICT ONE
AIM is providing on-call services to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One to provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Utility Coordination services for 12 counties in southwest Florida. Under the first contract, AIM performed 26 task work orders involving Quality Level-B and Quality Level-A SUE services, building productive relationships with utility owners, FDOT engineers and designers, and surveyors and mappers. AIM’s products provide engineers with a clear picture of what existing utilities are in the ground, what the size, type, material, depth and precise horizontal and vertical locations of these utilities are, and how they relate to the design elements. This FDOT contract involves working in very adverse conditions and accurately locating all types of utilities including but not limited to telephone, fiber optic communications, natural gas, petroleum, water, sewer, storm drainage, and buried electric. This contract also included remote sensing technologies such as aerial and ground bases LiDAR to acquire overhead utility wire and pole locations as needed. AIM’s goal is to help design and construction teams keep projects on budget and schedule by helping them avoid costly conflicts and line breaks.

UTILITY ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR CITY OF FORT MYERS
AIM provides utility engineering services on an as-needed basis under this contract, where most tasks are related to obtaining information related to underground utility locates and GPS data of City-owned utilities. The City has required substantial assistance in verifying utility locations based on backflow of locator work and a 48-hour requirement by Sunshine State Law Utility Engineering Services stipulating that the City provide access for excavating contractors and the public to provide notification to the system of their intent to engage in excavation or demolition.
